The Christian Right in the Military

The mission of The Christian Right in the Military is to complete research on a proposal for a book on the growing influence of the Christian Right in the US military.

The proposed book - "Bad Faith: Crusading Generals, Born-Again Grunts, and the Birth of a New Christian Nation" - will look at efforts by rightwing Christian groups to evangelize enlisted men and women and senior officers in the US military in the years since the Vietnam War. My research focuses on two questions: What political impact have these groups had in their effort "to raise up a Godly military?" And what dangers, if any, do their efforts pose to American democracy.
