The mission of this corporation is to advance the propagation and dissemination of the Not In Our Name Statement of Conscience as adopted by the corporation's Board of Directors; to gather and disseminate documentation and information concerning acts and underlying policies connected to the current political reality regarding both foreign and domestic policy; and to hold public forums on issues of public interest including war crimes and crimes against humanity.

To quote from the second Not In Our Name Statement: "We must change the political reality of this country by mobilizing the tens of millions who know in their heads and hearts that the Bush regime’s 'reality' is nothing but a nightmare for humanity. This will require creativity, mass actions and individual moments of courage. We must come together when ever we can, and we must act alone whenever we have to.."

These statements were written at crucial junctures and have become the moral and political compass for millions in society.  They have helped to inspire, guide, and embolden millions. To quote from Edward Said, one of the early signers of the 2002 Statement of Conscience: "No one can speak up all the time on all the issues. But, I believe, there is a special duty to address the constituted and authorized powers of one's own society, which are accountable to its citizenry, particularly when those powers are exercised in a manifestly disproportionate and immoral war, or in a deliberate program of repression, and collective cruelty."  People of conscience must take responsibility for what their own governments do  we must first of all oppose the injustice that is done in our own name.
