Our purpose is to serve as a national coordinating body for citizen electoral integrity groups and individuals already working at the national, state, and local levels, and to expand participation in this movement. Our primary functions will be to provide coordination and focus, eliminate duplication of efforts, create a clearinghouse for the sharing of materials and other resources, and provide critical leadership in decision-making about strategic priorities and tactical approaches.
Much urgency is lent to our purpose by the rapid and continuing loss of public trust in and control of what has become a privatized, computerized electoral system, such that any further delay in coordinating an effective response and restoring such trust and control could foreclose options for democratic self-government.
Citizen involvement on this front has become increasingly vital as a result of the failure of the major institutions of our society, including government and media, to respond correctively to evidence of corrupt and illegitimate electoral processes and outcomes. Only strong action by an organized citizenry -- both to bring pressure to bear upon these major institutions and to act directly in large numbers and with effective coordination -- will restore an electoral system in which votes are counted as cast and we the citizens of America can trust that the resultant electoral outcomes are truly reflective of the popular will.
