The Committee for Justice works to defend the constitutional rights of the defendants known as the Los Angeles Eight and to protect civil and constitutional rights and liberties at large. Our purpose is to organize community support, to educate the general public relative to the political and constitutional issues involved in the case against the LA 8, and to mobilize resources in this endeavor to stop the injustice against the eight defendants, their families, and communities at large. The committee will use every proper educational and outreach tool available to achieve its goals and objectives. Committee for Justice will also initiate and participate in coalitions with similar oriented and like-minded organizations and foundations. Ultimately, Committee for Justice will have an empowering effect on the community that will educate people about the political system, civil rights, the constitution, and will inspire them to become active participants in grassroots activism as a tool of healthy democracy. It will help eliminate the powerless and chilling effect of this case on the vulnerable immigrant communities and empower them to become positive and active contributors to our democracy.
